 एक होता चिमना आणि एक होती चिमणी 
चिमणी मोठा रुबाबदार आणि चिमना अगदीच सुमार 
तरीही एकमेकांचे जिवलग यार.
 
वेळात वेळ काढून एकमेकांशी बोलायचे,
एकमेकांना चिडवायचे आणि खूप खूप हसायचे .
 
चिमण्याच्या मनात एक खुलत होते गुपित, 
चिमणी बद्दलचे प्रेम त्याच्या मनाच्या कुपीत    
रोज रोज कारे देवाकडे प्रार्थना ,
ही  तिच्या मनात असू देत अशाच काहीशा भावना 
 
एक दिवस धीर करून त्याने सगळे सांगितले
पण त्याला तिने अगदी सहज नाकारले 
  
तिला म्हणे असे काहीच वाटत नव्हते,
तिच्या डोळ्यात प्रेम आहे हे अगदी झूठ होते
  
का “नाही”  ह्याची बरीच कारणे सांगितली 
पण चिमण्याच्या मनाला ती अजिबात  नाही पटली
 
चिमना तशीच घरी गेली, तिकडे जाऊन खूप रडला  
काय करावे कळेना,रडू त्याचाने आवरेना 
 
चिमण्याला एक उपाय सुचला , त्याने  चिमणीशी अबोला धरला 
चिमणीला मात्र ह्याचा सुधा काहीच फरक नाही पडला
 
चिमणी अगदीच खुशीत होती , नवीन स्वप्ने पाहत होती
कदाचित ती थोडा जास्तच प्रक्टीकॅल होती
 
चिमण्याने  सुद्धा  आता हसत जगायचे ठरवले 
पण एकांतातले अश्रू त्याला कधीच नाही आवरले    
 
एकतर्फी असले तरी चीमन्याचे  चिमणीवर अगदी खरे प्रेम होते
पण कदाचित खरे प्रेम चिमणीच्या नशिबी नव्हते
 
एक प्रश्न मात्र त्याला आयुष्यभर सतावत राहिला 
चिमणीच्या डोळ्यात त्याला दिसलेले  प्रेम हा नुसता "आभास" कसा ठरला?
